Matt Brevner

In the summer of 2009, Matt made his international debut with his first
 album, “MAGNUM
OPUS”, featuring hit singles “Never Gonna Be My
Friend”, “Mine” and “Up and Down”.
Tracks
immediately hit the airwaves on The Beat 94.5
(Vancouver’s Top 40) and television on
MTV Canada’s
“Peak Season”, MUCH Music, and Global TV. Matt
then spent a few months
touring Osaka and Tokyo where
he gained national attention and an exploding fan
base. Back
in BC, Matt toured Canada with Bone
Thugs-N-Harmony, and Western Canada with Moka
Only. Matt has also opened for acts such as Zion I,
 Souls of Mischief, Juelz Santana,
Mobb Deep, Bun B, JLive,
Warren G, Yelawolf, Xzibit, Three 6 Mafia, and
 Tech
N9ne.
“He has
the swagger, the lyrical ability, the production
abilities, and the work ethic. I’ll admit, its
 contagious.
I’ll say on record that (Magnum Opus) is
a classic.”– Ryan Ventura (Class and Grime)
In early 2010, Matt’s song “Up and Down” was
 recognized on “Ourstage.com” as the
hip hop song of
the month for January. Through this, Matt made his
 way to New York
City where he had the chance to
bump heads with artists like Curren$y, Ski Beats,
 Stalley
and Peter Hadar, (Creative Control /
BluRoc) and be interviewed by TRACE
Magazine.
Inspired by the city and the creative energy, Matt
 returned to
Vancouver to work on his second project,
“BLISSFUL IGNORANCE”. This time,
Matt dove deep into the rising world of
Dubstep, producing a more mature album
that is
much darker, more aggressive and politically charged
 than his first. Upon
release, the album reached 12,000
downloads in less than two weeks.
Throughout 2011, Matt toured abroad in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Macau.
During this time, Matt focused
heavily on his production skills, leading him to
 produce for
The Scale Breakers & Tech N9ne,
SonReal, BassNectar, and Madchild.
In 2012, Brevner
both produced and was featured on “Jitters” with Madchild
 (Swollen
Members) and Dutch Robinson (The Ohio
Players). With over 200,000 YouTube views
in the
first week, the song immediately went to MTV US, as
well as #1 on the Much Music
RapCity charts. “Jitters”
helped propel Madchild’s “Dopesick” album to #1 on
 the overall
Canadian iTunes charts and #6
on the US iTunes hip hop chart. Shortly after the
 successes
of the single, Brevner was billed as the
official support for Madchild’s “Dopesick” Tour
(Oct. 2012 – Jan. 2013), spanning 44 dates across Canada. In December 2012, while on tour,
Brevner unleashed his latest creation
to the world, the “BUSHIDO PROJECT”.
“With the release of his third studio
album Bushido, it becomes more and
 more clear why Matt Brevner
has
quickly become a high point in
Vancouver’s hip hop scene. Experimenting with sample-based
 music,
this album is without a doubt
his best one thus far. Brevner’s own
role in helping produce and master
his albums shows that he’s not just
an MC, he’s a multifaceted artist
with the skills to share his vision.”
– HipHopCanada
Matt’s success thus far has been
achieved solely by himself and the
 people who believe in
him. He has had
next to no PR or marketing campaign -
a fact that speaks volumes about the
quality of his work and his ever-growing
dedicated fan base.
